Economic Operators' Registration and Identification system (EORI)
Background
The EORI system is established in order to implement the security measures introduced by Regulation (EEC) No 2913/92, as amended by Regulation (EC) No 648/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The new system will be introduced on 1 July 2009.
The EORI number will be used by economic operators in all communications with EU customs authorities when an identifier is required, for example, when completing customs declarations.
