128 kg marihuana found at Obrežje border crossing

Representatives of the Slovenian Customs and the Police presented the details of seizure at the press conference.

On 16 April 2009 the customs officers at Obrežje border crossing examined a trailer vehicle registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to documents, the vehicle was loaded with charcoal and was on journey from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Switzerland.

 

During examination the customs officers discovered smuggled goods in concealments at the bottom of the vehicle. The quick test showed the presence of marihuana and the Police was informed.

 

In the bottom concealments the customs officers together with the Criminal Police officers then found 120 brown packages (128 kg) containing marihuana. The estimated value of the drug was EUR 300,000.00.

 

The drug and the vehicle were seized by the Criminal Police. 47-year Serbian citizen having permanent residence in Serbia and temporary residence in Switzerland was detained on the ground of suspicion of committing a criminal offence according to the Penal Code.
