23.6 kg heroin found with Macedonian citizen

On 19. December 2006 customs officers at the Obrežje border crossing found 23,6 kg heroin in a car driven by a Macedonian citizen.
The driver of the car with Italian registration plates had nothing to declare to the Customs. Since the driver of the car was not its owner, the customs officer decided to make a detailed examination. In the rear part of the car 44 packages (23.6 kg) of heroin were found. The market value of the heroin would be 402.687 EUR (96.500.000 SIT).
31-year old Macedonian citizen temporary residing in Italy was arrested because of the reasonable ground that he committed a criminal offence under laws and regulations on prohibited drugs.
This year it has been the eleventh detection of a great amount of prohibited drugs by the Customs.
