Mutual Recognition of AEO and C-TPAT programs
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the European Union signed a Mutual Recognition Decision on May 4th between CBP’s Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program and the EU’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program.
Director-General Heinz Zourek, European Union Taxation and Customs Union Directorate and CBP Acting Commissioner David V. Aguilar signed the decision, which recognizes compatibility between the EU and the U.S. cargo security programs. Both programs AEO and C-TPAT operate within the context of the World Customs Organisation 2011 Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade.
