Prohibited drugs exhibition

To celebrate the International Customs Day, 26 January, an exhibition on the fight against prohibited drugs was opened at the General Customs Directorate in Ljubljana and three Slovenian customs officers were presented with “World Customs Organisation Certificates”.
In recognition of exceptional meritorious service in the fight against drug trafficking Darko Žigon, Ervin Oblak and Jože Švab were presented the award by Rajko Skubic, the Director General of the Slovenian Customs Administration, on behalf of the Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation.
The exhibition was open for public from 23 to 24 January 2008 and was visited by pupils and teachers of some Ljubljana primary schools. Drug samples were among most interesting objects displayed. Pupils and their teachers could see and smell heroin, cocaine, LSD, amphetamine, ecstasy, their forms and devices for consumption. Last but not least, they were confronted with serious and devastating consequences of drug consumption.
Special drug testers used by antismuggling customs units were also shown to visitors and they had the opportunity to look through endoscope, a special device helping customs officer to search inaccessible places in vehicles, possible drug concealments.
