The Customs has taken over the tasks related to the tax exemptions for diplomatic missions
The Rules amending the Rules on the terms and methods of tax exemptions for diplomatic missions, consular posts, and international organisations in compliance with international agreements binding on the Republic of Slovenia were published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia No. 82/2011 of 17 October 2011. The date of entry into effect is 1 January 2012. The Rules also apply to VAT refund applications for 2011 submitted after 1 January 2012.
As from 1 January 2012, the competences with regard to the implementation of VAT relating tasks and excise duties and refunds for diplomatic missions, consular posts, agencies and bodies of the European Union, and international organisations are transferred from the Tax Administration of the Republic of Slovenia to the Customs Administration of the Republic of Slovenia, namely the Ljubljana Customs Directorate.
